Leading Your Household
The priest, provider, and protector
About this teaching
Men were made to lead. Not with control, but with covering. This message walks through what biblical headship looks like in a modern home.

Scripture
Ephesians 5:25-33. Joshua 24:15. 1 Timothy 3:4-5.
Headship is not hierarchy, it is covering
Biblical leadership in the home is not about being in charge. It is about being responsible. The priest brings his family to God. The provider makes sure they have what they need. The protector stands between them and what would harm them.
Priest
You set the spiritual temperature of your home. If you do not lead in prayer, worship, and the Word, someone or something else will fill the vacuum.
Provider
Provision is more than money. It is presence, attention, and direction. A father who provides money but not presence is training his children to associate love with absence.
Protector
You're the wall. Guard what your family sees, who they hear, and where they go. Protection is not paranoia. It is love with a spine.
The cost
Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her. Headship is a call to die first, not to be served first.
Reflect
- Which of the three roles are you strongest in? Which is weakest?
- Where has your household been leaderless because you were passive?
- What would your wife or children say your home smells like spiritually?
