Foundations of Faith

Lesson 6 · 10 min

The Church

You were not meant to walk alone.

Overview

Theme: Family.

Key Scripture. "Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another." - Hebrews 10:24-25

What this step is about. The Church is not a building or a Sunday service. It is the family of Jesus. When you belong to Him, you belong to them. You were never meant to walk this out alone, and you will not last long if you try.

Why it matters. Isolated men fall. Every enemy plan against you gets easier the fewer honest people are around you. The Church is where you get sharpened, called out, prayed for, taught, corrected, and loved. It is inconvenient. It is imperfect. It is essential.

What Scripture says. Acts 2 describes the first believers devoting themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. 1 Corinthians 12 calls the Church a body - each part different, each part needed. Ephesians 4 says God gave leaders to equip His people until we all grow up into Christ. This is not optional gear. This is how God grows sons.

Warpath truth. You do not need a perfect church. You need a real one. A place where the Word is preached, Jesus is honored, and honest people walk together. Find one. Show up. Serve. Be known. Let people love you when it is hard, and stay when it would be easier to leave.

Pray

Father, thank You that You did not save me into isolation. You saved me into a family. Lead me to real people. Give me the humility to be known and the courage to stay when it gets hard. Amen.

Sit with this

No wrong answers. Take your time. Answer honestly, out loud if you can.

  1. 01

What is your honest relationship with the Church right now?

  2. 02

What has been the cost of trying to walk this out alone?

  3. 03

Who are the two or three people who actually know your real life?

Before you walk on

Today: text one believer and set a time to be face to face this week. No agenda. Just presence.
