Lesson 12 · 10 min
Living Ready
A life that does not get caught off guard.
Overview
Theme: Readiness.
Key Scripture. "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." - 1 Peter 5:8
What this step is about. Living ready is the way of life of someone who has been in this long enough to know the fight is not over. You do not walk around paranoid. You walk around awake. Prepared. Prayed up. Rooted in the Word. Surrounded by honest people.
Why it matters. Most people who fall did not see the strike coming because they had stopped watching. Comfortable is not the same as safe. The enemy loves a drowsy soldier. God is raising sober-minded people who see clearly, love strongly, and are hard to knock off their feet.
What Scripture says. 1 Peter 5:8-9 tells you to resist the enemy, firm in your faith. Matthew 24:42 - stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Ephesians 5:15-16 - look carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Jesus said in Luke 21:36, stay awake at all times, praying.
Warpath truth. Living ready is boring on the good days and priceless on the hard ones. Keep the armor on. Keep the Word in you. Keep honest people close. Keep short accounts with God. That is not paranoia. That is a soldier who plans to finish.
Pray
Father, keep me awake. Not anxious. Alert. Rooted in You. Ready for whatever the day brings. Amen.
Sit with this
No wrong answers. Take your time. Answer honestly, out loud if you can.
01
Where have you gotten drowsy in the last month?
02
What piece of the armor do you need to put back on today?
03
Who is a trusted friend you have gone quiet with that you need to text this week?
Before you walk on
Today: do one honest check-in with a trusted friend. Tell them the truth about where you are and where you have gotten sloppy.
