Step 5 · ~30 min
Confession
Trust · Truth & Self-Examination
Overview
Warpath Step 5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs and our pain.
Theme: Trust.
Key Scripture. "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed." - James 5:16
What this step is about. Step 4 was written. Step 5 is spoken. You take the inventory out of your notebook and say it out loud - to God, to yourself without spin, and to one trusted, mature believer who can carry it with you.
Why it matters. Secrets rot. What stays hidden stays powerful. Every man carries at least one thing he swore he would take to the grave, and that thing has been eating him alive. James does not say confess to be forgiven - Jesus already handled that. He says confess to be healed. Healing lives in the light.
What Scripture says. 1 John 1:9 - "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Proverbs 28:13 - "Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy." John 8 - the truth is what sets you free.
Warpath truth. Pick the right person. Not a group text. Not your spouse first. A seasoned, safe brother in Christ who will not flinch, will not gossip, and will point you back to Jesus. Confess the specifics, not the categories. 'I have struggled with sin' is a fog. 'Here is what I did, here is what I hid, here is what I want free from' is the light hitting the ground.
Pray
Father, forgive me. Every specific one. I bring it into the light because Jesus already paid for it. Wash me clean. Free me from the weight. Amen.
