Lesson 11 · 10 min

Obedience

Love that shows up in the small decisions.

Overview

Theme: Love in action.

Key Scripture. "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." - John 14:15

What this step is about. Obedience is love with skin on. It is not what earns God''s love; it is how you show that you have received it. When Jesus is Lord, His words are not suggestions. They are direction.

Why it matters. You cannot say Jesus is Lord and keep the wheel. Every area you refuse to obey becomes an area where the enemy has ground and your growth stalls. Obedience is where trust gets tested and character gets built. The small decisions - what you watch, what you say, how you spend, how you treat the people closest to you, how you show up at work - are where discipleship actually happens.

What Scripture says. Luke 6:46 - "Why do you call Me ''Lord, Lord'' and not do what I tell you?" James 1:22 - be doers of the word, not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 1 John 2:3 - by this we know we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. Obedience is the evidence, not the entry fee.

Warpath truth. You do not need more information. You need to obey what you already know. Start there. God rarely gives you step two until you have taken step one. The Christian who obeys the little things grows. The one who negotiates does not.

Pray

Jesus, You're Lord. Not my feelings. Not my preferences. You. Show me the next act of obedience and give me the guts to take it. Amen.

Sit with this

No wrong answers. Take your time. Answer honestly, out loud if you can.

  1. 01

What has God already made clear that you are still negotiating with?

  2. 02

Where has partial obedience been costing you?

  3. 03

What is one concrete act of obedience you can take today?

Before you walk on

Today: obey the clearest thing God has already said. Do it before the sun goes down.
