Foundations of Faith

Lesson 9 · 10 min

Scripture

Standing on what God has said.

Overview

Theme: Foundation.

Key Scripture. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God." - Matthew 4:4

What this step is about. Scripture is more than a book to read. It is the ground you stand on and the food you live on. It corrects your thinking, shapes your decisions, and gives you words when you have none of your own.

Why it matters. A man without Scripture is a man at the mercy of his own reasoning and the world''s noise. You will drift. When you know what God has actually said, you have a place to plant your feet when the wind picks up. Most collapses in a Christian''s life trace back to somewhere he stopped standing on the Word.

What Scripture says. Jesus, in the wilderness, met every temptation with "It is written." Psalm 1 says the blessed man delights in the law of the Lord and meditates on it day and night - he is like a tree planted by streams of water. Isaiah 40:8 - the grass withers and flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever. This is the only truth that outlasts everything.

Warpath truth. Do not just read Scripture. Memorize it. Let it get down inside you where the enemy cannot easily rip it out. When the pressure hits, you will not have time to open your Bible. You will need it already in your bones.

Pray

Father, plant Your Word in me. Let it be the ground under my feet and the food in my mouth. When I am tempted, remind me what You have said. Amen.

Sit with this

No wrong answers. Take your time. Answer honestly, out loud if you can.

Before you walk on
