Spiritual Warfare

Lesson 2 · 10 min

Identity in Christ

You fight from who you are, not for it.

Overview

Theme: Identity.

Key Scripture. "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." - 2 Corinthians 5:17

What this step is about. You fight from who you are, not for it. If you are in Christ, you are already a son or daughter, already forgiven, already loved, already secured. The enemy''s whole game is to get you to fight for an identity Jesus already gave you.

Why it matters. When you forget who you are, every attack lands harder than it should. You will believe lies about your worth, your future, your standing with God. You will confuse a bad day with a bad life. Identity is where the ground gets stable. Stand on it, and shame loses its grip.

What Scripture says. Romans 8:15-16 - you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Ephesians 1 stacks who you are in Christ - chosen, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, sealed. None of that is earned. All of it is given.

Warpath truth. You're not what you did yesterday. You're not what someone else said about you. You're who your Father says you are. When the enemy shows up with an old label, hand him a new one - blood-bought child of the living God.

Pray

Father, thank You for making me Yours. Not on my best day. Every day. Silence every voice that argues with what Your blood has already said about me. Amen.

Sit with this

No wrong answers. Take your time. Answer honestly, out loud if you can.

  1. 01

What label are you still wearing that Jesus already cut off you?

  2. 02

Where does the enemy most often attack your identity?

  3. 03

What does Scripture actually say about who you are?

Before you walk on

Today: read Ephesians 1:3-14 out loud and write down five things it says are true of you in Christ.
